13 september 2022

According to the forecasts of the research company International Data Corporation (IDC), the global supply of personal computers will fall by 8.2% in 2022 and amount to 321.2 million, and tablet sales will decrease by 6.2% – to 158 million. Among the main negative factors for the market are the lockdowns associated with the pandemic and high inflation.

However, experts believe that the supply of PCs will remain above pre-pandemic levels in the near future, due to both the need to upgrade devices and the steady commercial demand and growth in emerging markets. The volume of PC deliveries in 2026 is estimated at 339 million units, tablets – 152.5 million units.

According to the statistics of the research company Gartner, the largest manufacturer of personal computers in the second quarter of 2022 is Lenovo — the company has sold almost 18 thousand computers and occupies 24.8% of the world market. The top 3 largest manufacturers also include HP (it sold 13.5 thousand PCs, occupying 18.8% of the market) and Dell (it sold 13.3 thousand PCs, occupying 18.5% of the market).
